Something for the enthusiast in the shape of this Mk.1 Triumph 2000 saloon.
Registered in April 1964 on a 'B' plate,
This is quite an early car with the upright spare wheel. In fact, the chassis number places it within the first 5,000 cars built. As such, it features several other early features such as the two-tone dash and no cover over the indicator & main beam warning lights.
This is a well known car in Triumph clubs, but is not necessarily one for the purist, as it's been fitted with a tuned 2500S engine and manual overdrive gearbox, plus power steering and the front seats from an MGF. Facebook rumours suggest that it may once have had a V8 in it, which would explain why the battery is in the boot. It's also got a higher 3.45 diff ratio for better cruising, in addition to a lightened flywheel and six branch manifold.
Therefore it drives very well indeed!
Recently had welding done including sills and outrigger, plus a full respray in original colours of Cherry Red and White. (I know it looks pink in the pictures but it's definitely red - the sunlight was strong)
It now needs a proper flat and polish, plus the chrome trims refitting (all of which I've got) and the next owner can decide whether to use the proper clips or some kind of mastik. It would also benefit from some tidying to the interior but overall it's a nice driving, solid car. Reluctant sale, owing to a change in circumstances.
When finished it will make a very good daily driver / long distance cruiser / Round Britain weapon / rally car.
